I had worked with Wipro Technology and Wipro Infotech for many years before I left for good recently.
With my own experience I want to warn the guys (Freshers/Laterals both) that select this company ONLY if you have no other choice at all. It is the most terrible place to work.
FRESHERS-- Do not even consider the offer from this company even if you don’t have any other offer at hand..better to struggle for a few months and get selected in some other company..
WIPRO WILL TRY TO REACH YOUR COLLEGE AS ONE OF THE FIRST IT COMPANIES...SELECT YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE AMONG THE BEST STUDENTS OF THE COLLEGE AND MAKE YOU SUFFER FOR IT LATER IN EVERY WAY.
These management guys here have no concerns for employees at all...the treatment is really really bad...
Spending nights is considered to be norm by the managers here but any benefit to the employees is not on their list...and salaries/hikes etc. better forget about those things than getting frustrated.
I have not seen so much of politics in any other company, honesty and hard work results in more n more work and least benefits, if you are lucky you can get promises at the most (which will not be fulfilled of course!!).
ADMIN DEPARTMENT CAN TREAT YOU AS THEY WANT WITHOUT ANY RESPECT INCLUDING TRANSPORT/CANTEEN ETC. THEY BEHAVE AS YOU ARE AT THEIR SERVICE NOT VICE VERSA.
LATERAL GUYS-- Don’t fall for the ONSITE promises.
Onsite story is even more sad, they will suck your blood like hungry vampires!! At the day time you will work at client office, at night you will be on call with Indian team/Managers..and take my words, these guys won’t let you sleep. If you are lucky enough to be part of a project which is in trouble(which 99% of the projects are sooner or later) you have had it...maybe you will get 1-2 hrs. to sleep..
Environment is more like GOVERNMENT OFFICES RATHER THAN PROFESSIONAL where managers will play with you the way they want..They hire poor innocent guys who are still in that "student life mode" and hardly disagree with them (forget about saying NO for being overloaded like donkey) make them work day and night. And if you want to really progress here, you have better be great in office politics than work.
If you want to avoid frustrating life/career, hate buttering and don’t want to hone your political skills, better join some other company (preferrably non-desi).
